Footnotes #13
Originally, the museum staff wanted this to be
an interactive community wall. The plan was to have technology that would
enable visitors take a photo of themselves (or selfie) and have it appear on
the wall superimposed over a historic image.
However, the cost of building the exhibit was higher than expected so
the museum staff had to cut several parts, including the interactive community wall.
Certain donations also have an impact on which objects are included. For
example, the exhibit is funded in large part by donors. While only objects that
are historically accurate and appropriate are included, in a few cases objects linked
to a donor’s family were given preference. As one staff member said “everything
[the exhibit, objects chosen, etc] is budget driven.”
